Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on California’s South Central Coast, Bishop’s Peak is an ancient volcano that towers above the city of San Luis Obispo. As the tallest of a series of volcanic peaks, “the Seven Sisters,” it is one of the most important landmarks in San Luis Obispo County. The Talley family, farmers in the area for three generations, chose Bishop’s Peak to convey their commitment to the production of handcrafted wines that best express San Luis Obispo County’s unique winegrowing conditions.

The Talley family makes wine under the Bishop's Peak label with this objective: to produce honest wines of good value that display the distinctive character of San Luis Obispo County’s two winegrowing regions. These regions are the Paso Robles area to the north, and the Edna and Arroyo Grande valleys in South County. The goal is to produce wines that reflect the unique character of their south central coast origins.
In North County, the Paso Robles area has a warm climate and alluvial soils that are ideally suited to growing red wine grapes such as cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and Rhone varieities such as syrah. In South County, chardonnay and pinot noir thrive in the cool climate and calcareous marine sedimentary soils of the Edna and Arroyo Grande Valleys.
The grapes for Bishop’s Peak wines are purchased from growers who share the Talley family’s commitment to quality. Brian Talley works closely with these growers to ensure that yields are moderate and that quality is maximized. All Bishop’s Peak grapes are hand harvested, and the wines hand crafted by the Talley Vineyards winemaking team.

We are pleased to announce the newest endeavor for Bishop's Peak, the Rock Solid Cycling Team. Brian Talley and his cousin Ryan Talley of Talley Farms are avid cyclists. When they were approached by their friend Craig Nunes with a proposal to sponsor a local cycling team, they jumped at the chance.
Team members held a kickoff February 26th with a ride through the Edna Valley followed by a wine and cheese reception at Talley Vineyards. Team members, their families, and other team sponsors had a great time at the reception. Good luck to the Rock Solid Cycling Team in the coming season!
